Van trip discovery 

 It was a very long time since I wanted to travel with a converted van. In the late 2024 October, I have rented a van in Lyon to travel to Geneva in Switzerland. I have never been there and it was the best time to travel with the van. 

To rent the van, I visited the BlackSheep web site. It is a company that offers several types of van. From small ones with only a bed just for sleeping to larger ones where you can be stand up into, almost like a ‘camping-car’. I have chosen the compromise between the space, the comfort and the price. It was the classical van with two different beds (one made from the rear seats and another one in the pop-up roof) and a small but very furnished kitchen (fridge and hotplate). Blacksheep offers a variety of van brand, like the popular Volkswagen California, Mercedes Vito, PSA, Renault and the Ford Transit custom which is the one we chose.

With my girlfriend, we first visited Annecy and slept on a top of a mountain. And after visiting this city, we drove to Geneva and tried local food, such as ‘fondue’. To end our trip, we spent the last night near lake Bourget in France.

In my opinion, the van is the best way to travel. It is not too expensive, but depends on if you want to buy or rent it. It gives you the freedom to go and sleep wherever you want.

One of my dreams is to buy a van and fit it out by myself. And I already have few destinations in mind of places to explore, such as Bayern (south side of Germany), Italia and Ireland.
